Just the other weekend, I had an AMAZING time supporting my friend since High School as she married the Love of Her Life! I would like to share 3 lessons I learned that weekend, as we are never to old to learn.
Lesson 1 - Not everyone that is your friend will put your needs ahead of theirs when it counts the most.
You must understand that everyone in your life serves a purpose. Know your friends strong and weak points. For example, if you have a friend that is great with numbers don't ask them to write your english paper. If you have a friend that is a great cook don't ask them to do your taxes. Enhance their strengths.
Lesson 2 - Always have a back up plan.
It is important to plan for the "what ifs". We've all heard the saying, "If you fail to plan then you will plan to fail." Women catch a lot of slack for packing too much when preparing for a trip or thinking too long about making a decision, but no one complains when they have heartburn and they don't have to go to the store for tums because the "woman" came prepared!
Lesson 3 - No matter what happens always have a good time!
Even when things don't go as planned, you can find the positive side of things by not allowing your joy to be stolen and have fun!
You may not be able to control other people's actions, but you can always control how you react. As Michelle Obama stated, "When they go low, we go HIGH!" So take the high rode my friends and maintain your happiness.
